RED CROSS WORK
MATATA SUB-CENTRE PRESI DENT'S REPORT Reporting on the year's activities the president of the Matata subcentre of the Red Cross Society rereals that much useful work wjas accomplished. The report reads as follows:—-
The past year has proved a success financially and in regard to work performed by the members Three cases of clothing have been despatched to Auckland,, also two parcels containing comforts for soldiers. Several functions for raising money were held, the proceeds of which have been expended on the following :
A £10 donation was sent to the Relief for London Fund. The telephone installed in Nurse Raureti's residence the rental being jointly paid by the European and- Maori Red Gross sub-centre. Three dozen cups and saucers were purchased to be used at all Red Cross functions. Wool and material were supplied to the junior Red Cross at the Native school and also the Convent. All work done by the children was most satisfactory.
During the Joint Red Cross and St. John's Special Appeal the combined Maori and European Red Cross in this district succeeded in racing the sum of £50 which was forwarded direct to. Auckland, this being a very commendable effort for so small a community. It is pleasing to note that all members who took the Homo Nursing and First Aid Lectures, passed their exams. We end our year with the sum /of £10 in hand.
