A WET MONTH

SIXTEEN DAYS RAIN HEAVY FALL AT EDGECUMBE Compared with last year March was a wet month being at Whakatane close to the record established in 1928, while figures recorded at Edgecumbe have already passed those registered in 1940. At Whakatane rain fell on sixteen days to make a total of: 5.51 inches as against 1 inch last year. The highest fall on record for March Mas in 1928 when 6.98 inches were registered, while the driest March was in 1939 when well under the inch fall the figure being .39. To date this year 16.47 inches of rain have fallen compared with 10.07 last year. Edgecumbe Recording. March produced 7.81 inches of rain at Edgecumbe as against 1.01 measured last year. The total fall for the first three months of the year is 20.06 inches, the same (period in 1940 producing 16.97.
