HOME GUARD EXPENSES

HEADQUARTERS ACCOUNT STATE TO PAY IN FUTURE At this week's meeting of the Whakatane County Council a letter was received from the Mayor of Rotorua stating that in future the area expenses of the Home Guard will be met by the Government, but that the amount of £120 already incurred in the establishment of headquarters was still the responsibility of local bodies within the area. The letter continued to state that a considerable amount of the £120 represented printed forms and other forms of stationery which had been supplied to all local commanders, and that it was desired to settle all accounts the Mayor asked the council to forward its cheque for its share of the expenses before March 31.

Cr T. G. H. Cawte pointed out that the Whakatane County Council was the only local body which had not paid its quota which amounted to about £24. He stated that a great deal of the stationery had been received locally he would like to hava the amount paid.

Other members were of a similar opinion and it was decided to pay the amount of £24 8s 3d.
