OHOPE DEFEATS METHODIST Owing to absence of several Methodist players, Oliope claimed a fairly comfortable win by 16 sets to 7 (one unfinished) in the friendly match played at the Methodist courts last Saturday. The games were nevertheless very interesting, and the hospitality of the Methodist players made the day a most enjoyable one. Details were, Methodist players being mentioned first in each instance :—■ Ladies' Singles. Miss Blyth lost to Mrs Jackson 4-6; Miss Jacombs lost to Mrs Johnson 2-6; Mrs Wilson beat Miss Connelly 6-3; Mrs Corbett beat Miss White 6-2r; Mrs Walker lost to Mrs Dick 4-6; Mrs Ward lost to Mrs Wilson 3-6. Men'te Singles. Lucas lost to Johnson 2-Q; Pearson lost, to Sharman 4-6; Cole lost to, Wilson 0-6; Litchwark lost to White 0-6; Higgens v Pearson unfinished 2-3; Shaw beat Jackson 6-1.
