President's Report. Your committee has met on seven occasions during the season to transact pool business. At the. commencement of the season due consideration was given as to the disposal of the seasons output by the following methods: 1. To have the season's output handled by the P.M.A. as was done during the 19159-40 season. 2. To sell on consignment. 3. To obtain tenders for the output by (a) monthly tenders, (b) tenders for the season's output. After all information nnd channels had been fully considered and debated, your committee decided to dispose of the calves by monlhlyi tender, live weight at farm gate. This method as disclosed by the balance sheet has averaged a m-tt payout to the farmers of 9/9.3 per calf, tnis price may be considered as most satisfactory and denotes the keen competition by the tendering firms. Output: The total output for the season is 4753 made up of 4423 calves of 521bs and over and 330 skinners, this shows an increase of 1262 over last season. Cartage: Tenders were called for the cartage which was l()d per calf, this being an increa;% of Id over last season, due io the increased cost in connection witli the carrying business. The area w r as divided into two and twe of the local carriers operated and gave very sastisfactory service. Pool Expense: As will be noted from the balance sheet, the pool penses for the season has amounted to IJ/4dl J /4d per calf, this compared Avith other pool expenses may be considered very satisfactory, and is as low as is possible to efficiently operate. General : The committee desire to express their appreciation to the firms operating in the Bobby Calf trade in this district, for their tenders and keen competition throughout the season. They also express their appreciation to the P.M.A. for information supplied.
In conclusion I desire to express my thanks for the loyal support and co-operation to my fellow committeemen, and I wish to make special mention cf the loyal and valuable service cf the secretary, Mr Grace, who is chiefly responsible for the success of the pool.
