CALEDONIAN SOCIETY
EXECUTIVE MEETS INGLESIDE ARRANGED Jhe chief, Mr W. J. Simons, presided -over a full executive meeting of the Whakalane Caledonian Society and several members of the Catering Committee on Friday evening, when a lengthy agenda was tabled. It was decided that the Winter Show Buildings be used for Inglesides until such time as a change was necessary, and by way of outlining the ensuing year's activities Mr R. Fergus,son presented a full programme whereby goodwill Inglesides will be taken to outlying districts at giveri periods throughout the winter. The centres it is proposed to visit are Te Teko, Matata, Otakiri, Taneatua, Waimana and Awakeri. Free buses will be run on these occasions and every endeavour made to provide a full Caledonian evening for the benefit of those living inj outlying districts who could not often make the journey to Whakatane.
The first Ingleside is to be held at the Winter Show Buildings on February 28 and a special ladies rota was set up to cope with the catering and convenors for three separate committees were appointed as follows: Messrs Ariner, Martin and Berry. The following were elected new members to the Society: Mr and Mrs J. Kinnaird, Messrs S. McLeod, S. J. McKenzie, G. Tweedy and A. Hannay. The secretary reported the arrival of new cross belts, body belts and sporans, the total cost of which w r as £62. These will be distributed to the bandsmen and in the near future the members should be in complete uniformity in regard to equipment.
