CALEDONIAN HALL
POSSIBILITY REVIEWED SELECTION COMMITTEE APPOINTED The Whakatane Caledonian Society dccided at a meeting held on Friday evening to go into the question of acquiring a section and later, if possible., erecting a hall, which would be called the Caledonian Hall and be used primarily for the Society's social functions.
Messrs W. T. Simons, H. D. Patterson, W. Howat and C. KingsleySmith were appointed as a committee to investigate suitable building sites handy to the commercial centre of the town. We understand that several sites have already been viewed an<f that further discussion will take place at the next meeting of the Society.
A member of the committee made the offer at the meeting to provide funds up to £.100 for the purpose of purchasing, a section, and the meeting was enthusiastic regarding the eventual building of a hall which would always be available for the members activities and which also could become a revenue producing asset to the Society.
