VISIT OF POVERTY BAY RINK

A rink from the. Poverty Bay Club, Gisborne, en route for Rotorua Avliere it Avas to play in a tournament broke the journey to play n match at Whakatane. The result of the match was as folloAVs:—

Poverty Bay: Hartley, McGibbon, Ritchie, Bennett (s) 21 defeated SaA--age, Tippett, Baxter, Caisley (s) 13. The final of the local handicap pairs resulted in a Avin for Berg and Baxter (s) 30 against Salmon and Loane (s) 13.

Games in the usual Saturday draAV resulted as folloAVs:—

Johnson, Boon, Burgess, Creeke (s) 20 y Murphy, Dines, Bridgcr Mclsaac (s) 15.

Wilson, Drubc, Ilayward, Littlejohn (s) 23 v Nicholson,, Bigelow, Pearson, Shaw (s) 17. Week-end Tournament. Favoured with the excellent weather of the week-end the tournament help proved most enjoyable and some excellent matches resulted. A number of visiting teams were present and added to the interest of the day. Palmer (Te Puke) and Hoi lis (Whakatane) went through without a loss and meeting in the final provided a most interesting contcst the local rink finally winning by 13-3.
