FAREWELL FUNCTIONS
POPULAR RESIDENTS ENTERTAINED
At the conclusion of last Sunday evening's service Mr and Mrs G. Kilvington, who shortly leave Whakatane to reside in Auckland, were farewelled by the local Methodist congregation; In asking the guests to accept a travelling bag as a token of esteem, the Rev. G. P. Lucas, expressed the hopes and prayers of all that Mr Kilvington would be speedily restored to good health. Mr T. J. Hellyar referred to the active eo-opcration of Mr and Mrs Kilvington in Church life during the past years. Mr Kilvington suitably returned thanks for the gift and for the kindly wishes expressed.
PRESBYTERIAN EVENT
On Saturday afternoon, January2s, members of the Presbyterian Church entertained Mr and Mrs Kilvington at the Bible Class Hall and the event .proved most enjoyable.
Speakers during the afternoon were the Revs. Mu Lilburn, Mr Hogg and Messrs Cutler and Jones, all of whom spoke in glowing terms of the guests. Reference was made to the excellent service rendered to the church as organist for some years by Mrs Kilvington, while Mrs Brcbner, spoke of the tasteful manner in which Mrs Kilvington had arranged flowers in the church for cach Sunday service, the blooms being grown in her own garden.
Mr and Mrs Kilvington were presented with jug and toaster and a copy of "Gone with the Wind."
