SPECIAL COMMITTEE SET UP

A decision to go into the matter of laying out a possible sports area, erecting children's playing facilities and providing seating was arrived at. at the meeting of the Ohope Progress and Ratepayers' League, and

in order to carry out these improvements and investigate their possibility, a sub-committee comprising Messrs, F. B. Cutler, F. Mahy, A. J. Canning, H. C. Kennedy, N. V|. Gregor and C. Kingsley-,Smith was set up. On the motion of Mr Sullivan, the sum of £10, was voted to carry out immediate improvements in the manner of suitable seats under the trees in the picnic ground'.

Mr Kennedy suggested the promotion ctf an Easter Carnival, plans for which, could be considered now-. He mentioned also the possibflit'ies of a children's sports meeting which could be held at regular intervals and which, he was certain, would become an extremely popular gathering for young and old.

These matters Avill be reyiewed at the next meeting of the executive, to be held next month.
