NEW YEAR CARNIVAL
Sir, —Yes, by all means include the King Street Retailers. And in so doing your correspondent has painted a picture which the ladies will not favour. He has braved their censure by suggesting they would •put on tight shoes to walk the distance. One is reminded of the fable: What the railway engine said when the bull charged it: "I admire your pluck; but I do not think much of your judgment." And here I will bid you "Good-bye" Mr Well Wisher, and good luck go with you. As the time comes round again for the next carnival, may we all be bound in the bundle of life and our slogan "Success to the Whakatane Carnival, not the Strand Carnival." Yours etc , ANOTHER WELL WISHER.
