VERY LITTLE OBSERVANCE BONFIRES BUT .FEW CRACKERS As was to be expected the observation of Guy Fawkes' night (yesterday evening) was very poor by comparison with other years, Mr Luke's display at Awaken, for so many .years an annual event keenly looked forward to by tho district, ceased two • years ago and although some effort was made last year to give an entertainment at Oliope Beach for the benefit of the children, nothing was organised this year in view of the shortage of fireworks. Thrown on their own devices the children however enjoyed many bonfires, and in most instances in spite of the shortage managed to get quite a bit of pleasurable excitement and fun on their own creating.
