LEAGUE OF MOTHERS
MONTHLY MEETING HELD INTERESTING MISSION ADDRESS The monthly meeting of the League was held in Knox Presbyterian Hall on Tuesday, October 29. Mrs W. Sullivan presided over a fair attendance of members and friends. After the usual business, Mrs H. Hogg gave a ve>ry interesting account of her missionary experiences in Bolivia, South America. The speaker mentioned the difficulties and disadvantages of life in that State; and stressed the object lessons that had been taught her, and these lessons were applicable to all we New/Zealand women. Firstly: Appreciation of the conveniences of our homes. Secondly: Appreciation of our mail, road and rail services, which enabled us to contact other women. Thirdly: Appreciation of the Sabbath. Indifference to the sanctity of the Sabbath, was, Mrs Hogg thought, the besetting sin of New Zealand women, and she urged the members to instil into their homes, a right regard for the Holy Day. At the conclusion, Mrs Hogg was warmly applauded for her address. The League hymn, "O, Happy House," was then sung, after which Mrs Drube sang two solos very charmingly. Afternoon tea was dispensed by members of the committee. At the next meeting the Sunshine Circlo will be pleased to receive gifts suitable for the hospital— clothing, vegetables, fruit or flowers. The meeting closed with the singing of the National Anthem.
