AN OFFENSIVE ACTION A young Maori, Bill Ratahi could only plead the fact of having takein a number of drinks as an excuse for his action in answer to a charge of committing an offensive act in the Strand on Friday evening last, when he appeared in the court on Monday before Messrs G. A. Brabant and J. G. Mulholland. Sergeant Farrell said that there had been many complaints, from businessmen regardng this type of offence and he knew that it was prevalent amongst a certain number of Maoris. Defendant, was a decent type of Maori otherwise, A fine of £2 and 8s costs was imposed.
