Sir, —I was glad to note your advocacy of the re-formation of the Whakatane Beautifying Society. . Much valuable work has been done by . that organisation in die past, £ understand and now With the town growing at such a rate I consider that the time for its reconstruction, is most opportune. May I draw attention to the road to the Heads in particular as a worthy undertake ing to start on. Nothing could be - finer than to see that piece of roadway permanently walled up from the sea, and planted with pohutukawas at intervals along its length.. ; , What a blaze of glorious colour in. .. the summer when all were in bloom. The simplest job of all would be to get the trees for they are growing all arolind the town. I trust that your suggestion will be put into ac- < tion soon and that by the time one boys return they will lind a brighter and better Whakatane than the one they left. Yours etc., OLD TIMER. •
