THE HOME GUARD

Sir, —Am I in order in chnwing attention to this 'Home Guar t tion once again. I like many others">y in this district get down \ to it and look as if Ave are really doing something in the interests of the defence of our own country.. Its nearly a year now since the thing was mentioned and as far as I can see, nothing , has been done to organise or train anybody in the Dominion, heyond men who are likely *\ to be sent overseas. With the war turning and twisting all over the .v " world, like a mad dog amok, who can tell where the next victim lies. Japan has declared her alliance 1 with the Axis powers and yet, we merely carry on at the same old ' jog-trot and argue the point about arms. Don't you think its time for j - a bit of a shake-up. Hundreds of men would be glad of the chance to train if they were only given the lead. My name is on the list of vol- v unteers but'l am still waiting instructions as to what to do. Noth- * ing concrete/' nothing planned— no-.;/ thing apparently wanted. Well I suppose we just have to go on hoping, and unless some one can enlighten me I must still remain—" ~ IN THE DARK. (The visit of the Hon. R. Seniple next week should give our correspondent a chance to glean firsthand information on the subject. Ed.)
