ENROLMENT CARDS
ISSUE IN WHAKATANE SINGLE MEN RECEIVE CERTIFICATES During the last few days enrolment certificates under the National Service Emergency Regulations have been delivered, by registered letter, to single men in Whakatane. It is possible that all have not yet received their cards and they are advised, if not in receipt within the next day or two, to communicate with the Director, National Service Department, Private Bag, Wellington, C.l. ' Single men are reminded that the enrolment certificate must be carried and produced on demand by an officer of His Majesty's New Zea land Forces or the police and the onus is on employers to see that their employees are in possession of the registration card. Provision has been made for heavy penalties, both for employer and employee and single men who do not notify a change of address are also liable.. Made of firm card in the form of a folder, the certificate states name and occupation, registration number and the division into which the reservist has been drafted. These details were compiled from the Social Security registration forms filled in during May. It is also of importance that reservists sign the card in the space provided and it is stressed that enrolment has not legally been completed until this has been done. In effect, failure to sign, renders the holder liable to prosecution and the same penalty upon conviction as though he had not received the card.
