PETTY THIEVING

BICYCLE LAMPS REMOVED NUMEROUS CASES The mention iii the BEACON of a number of removal of clothing from lines in and about the Borough, has prompted other persons to relate their experiences. One lady last Saturday stated that within the past month members of her family had lost no less than three lamps from their bicycles. Other friends of hers had reported the same experience, and the victims of the thefts state that they are often placed in a serious predicament owing to their machines being unlighted, and the danger from other vehicles using the road. Last Friday evening one owner left his cycle outside a shop for less than ten minutes, only to find that the lamp had been removed when he returned. This sort of petty theft is annoying as it is criminal and citizens are asked to co-operate in bringing those responsible to book.
