POLICE HAVE FULL CONTROL STATEMENT BY MINISTER When questions were invited at Saturday night's meeting of Whakatanc and Opotiki local bodies representatives, convened by His Wor ship the Mayor at the request of the associate-Minister of National Service, the Hon. D. Wilson, Mr F. W. K. Raymond, president of tlie Whakatane branch of the Returned Soldiers' Association asked whether it.would-be possible for the Home Guard to be furnished with a list otf doubtful aliens. 'Fifth • columnites—or —ists, as the case may be.' The Minister said that while he was sympathetic., there was a danger of innocent people being hurt. The present regulations and the authority of the police were best. Mr Wilson added that if any person had suspicions of another's allegiance, those doubts should be communicated to the police and the matter would be investigated.
