VAGRANT CHARGED
FOUND ON ENCLOSED PREMISES IMPRISONMENT ON TWO COUNTS Alexander Swain, alias Swai'ne alias Ross, alias Baxter, a labourer aged 41, of no fixed abode, appeare< before Messrs G. A. Brabant and C< G. Lucas, Justices of the Peace ii the Police Court on Wednesday morning, charged with being fount on enclosed premises at Awaker without laAvfiil excuse and with be ing an idle and disorderly persoi within the meaning of the Polici Offences Act, 1927, in that he iliac insufficient lawful means of sup port. Both charges referred to Julj 23rd. Accused pleaded - guilty to botl counts, after informing the Courl that he had never yet pleadec guilty to the latter charge. Sergeant M. Farrell said thai about 3 a.m. on Tuesday Swain was found in a wash-house on Mi Penny's property at Awakeri. He was 'kicking up a row' and wher found- had half a bottle of methylated spirits. Accused, said the Sergeant, had rather a bad list and it seemed as though his whole trouble was drink. A short, sharp sentence would give him an opportunity tc get over the effects of the alcohol ancl Swain himself admitted thati a few days in prison would not do him any harm. The Bench imposed sentences oi two weeks imprisonment on each charge, the terms to be concurrent:
