FRATERNITY

BANDSMEN GET TOGETHER MONDAY EVENING'S SOCIAL His Worship the Mayor, Mr E>. SBarry, was in the chair for the social oragnised by the combined Citizens' and Caledonian Pipe Bands and held in the- Winter Show Hall on Monday evening. Others present included Messrs A- J. Canning, Alex Sutherland, W. G. Howat, W. Symons. Chief of the Caledonian Society, and. W. Jarrett, Citizens' Bandmaster. Though a combined social, the evening was lent a Scottish air with the introduction of a. haggis, piped into the hall by Pipe Major Johnson, a sword dance by Pipe. C',or-i poral A. Donaldson and a display by the Pipe Band. Promoted jointly by the Citizens' and Pipe Bands, the social was a goodwill gesture and the friendli-r ness between, the Bands was stressi ed when toasts to the respective organisations were honoured. The toast list included: The King, Mr B. S. Barry; The Citizens' Band, Mr Symons, response by Mr Jarrett; The Pipe Band, Mr A. Sutherland, response by Pipe Corporal A- Donaldson; Band Supporters, Mr D. Paterson, response by Mr A. J. Cann-J ing; Bandsmen on Service, Mr B. S. Barry, response by-Mr E. Montgomery. Artists for the evening were Messrs F. Watson, T. Eaglesham, Piper Ferguson, Piper Donaldson and Bandsman E. Montgomery, the latter acting as pianist.
