: : THE MAORI CELEBRATIONS CLEAN BALANCE SHEET At the final wind-up meeting of those associated with the Maori Celebrations Sub-Committee, in con necticm witli the local Centennial activities the secretary submitted a balance sheet, and statement of accounts which showed the satisfactory state of affairs of meeting all liabilities, and leaving a clean slate and a record of a job well and truly done. A pleasing interlude was the presentation of the Maori historical review 'Tulioe' by Elsdon Best, to the secretary. In making the presentation Mr C. G. Sou they, in the ab-< sence of the chairman, Mr W. Clark oif Paroa, said that every one connected with the Centennial had appreciated his work. Details of the balance sheet were: Receipts: Grant from Internal Affairs Department £100, Dance Pro-« ceeds £26 17s, Borough and CountjT Donations £12 ss, Donations G. Brab ant £1, A. Hayter £1, Rebates on goods etc. £2 15s 3d. Expenditure: Transport (benzine) £49 15s 10d„ Implements £1 15s, Dress Material' £2 3s 6d, Hire Costumes £3 lis Bd, Bureau wires 1 , etc. £4 19s lid, Labour £12, Advertising, Printing, News print £7 13s 2d, Piipe Band (transport) £3, Catering £50 2s 9d, Kumara Planting Expenses £2, Hall Hire 30s, Power Board 9s 2d. In accordance with the desire of the last general meeting the minutes, correspondence, balance sheet, etc., together with the actual replica of the Treaty of as signed by the descendants of thej original signatories on the day will be handed to the Borough Council for reference and safe keeping.
