OBITUARY
MR WILLIAM DENNIS NICHOLAS A Avell-known and highly-respect-ed resident of Paeroa,, Mr William Dennis Nicholas, passed aAvay last Monday, says the Hauraki Plains Gazette. ]Vlr Nicholas, A\ r ho Avas born at Hawera, Taranaki, came to Paeroa nearly 40 ago, having purchased the "Ohinemuri Gazette" neAvspaper from the late Mr E'dAvin Edwards. The ownership and management of the neAvspaper, which was later changed in name to the "Hauraki Plains Gazette," Avas retained by Mr Nicholas until a year or tAvo ago. Mr Nicholas Avas for thirteen years secretary of the Hauraki Agricultural and Pastoral Association and for many years secretary of the Thames Valley Rugby Football- Union. Mr Nicholas is survived by his AvidoAv and four daughters, Mrs B. S. Barry, of Whakatane., Mrs J. R. Drummond, of Auckland, Mrs C. Blackwood, of Paeroa,-and Miss Mar garet Nicholas, of Paeroa, and three grandchildren.
