FOREMAN'S REPORT
NEW STREET BEING FORMED The following is the report submitted by Mr W. S. Henderson, Borough Foreman, to the monthly meet ing of the Council: — LoA r elock Street: The north side of the street is being reformed and levelled and footpath, topdressed with fine metal, provided. Surplus sand and coarse filling is being used to Aviden portion of Hinemoa Street near bridge. Suitable topsoil for grassing has to be carted. When completed street side will be in good condition for grass seeding. McGarvey Road: Two chains of street side was levelled and footpath metalled. James Street metalling has been carried out at lolwer end. George Street-Strand footpath at neAV Union Bank filled Avitli premixed bitumen and chips, and sealed. Domain Road footpath has been patched Avith colfix. Further drains and stormAvater channels Avere clear ed. - Street name signs, leading off main roads, from Bridge Street to Wharf totalling 34, have been repainted and written by experienced signwriter. Water Supply: A neAV connection was made and a number of blow-* outs repaired in mains. Ramson's block (Government Housing Department): Work has commenced on continuation of Salonika Street to King Street. Hedges, trees, fenccs have been removed. Laying of concrete kerb and' channel and earthwork formation of carriageAvay and footpaths is proceeding. Grading has been carried out and refuse dump levelled.
