WEDDING BELLS

FOWELL—SKIFFINGTON A pretty wedding of considerable interest in the Eastern Bay of Plenty was that solemnised at the Roman Catholic Church on June 25th between Mary Isobelle, second daughter of Mr and Mrs P. Skiffington, of Taneatua, and Robert EdwanJ Thomas, eldest son of "Mr and Mrs Powell, of Awakeri. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Father Leen.. The bride, who was given away by Mr J. Davies, wore a gown of silk tulle and lace over white satin, with a lulle veil worked witli satin horse-slioes and carried a sheaf of white lilies. In attendance as bridesmaids were Miss M. Fowell. sister of the bridegroom, who was dressed in powder blue taffeta, with a blue net veil finished with a spray of pink lilies, and Miss J. Newdick, who wore powder blue taffeta and a blue net veil. Bouquets of roses and maiden hair fern were carried. Betty Newdick made a charming flower girl, dressed in pink satin, with pink satin shoes to tone. The bridegroom's attendants were Mr James Fowell, as best man and Mr Darcy Fowell, as groomsman. The reception was held in the Awakeri Hall, those present including: Mr and Mrs Bishop (Whakatane); Mr and Mrs H. Websterf (Taneatua); Mr and Mrs Kelsin and Miss Kelsin (Taneatua); Mr and Mrs N. Macdonald (Awakeri); Mr and Mrs D. Macdonald (Awakeri); Mr and Mrs Taylor (E'dgecumbe);, Mr and Mrs N.-Taylor (Te Teko); Miss Taylor (Te Teko); Mrs Batey (Awakeri); Mr and Mrs Rust (Awakeri); Mrs I. Hawthorne (Taneatua); Mr and Mrs J. Newdick; Mr and Mrs J. Knox (Reporoa); Mr and Mrs Teasedale; Misses M. and J. Penny; Messrs R. and H. Skiffington (Taneatua) .
