It is announced by Mr Chrisp, . manager of Whakatane Amusements Ltd., that the photographs and film of the local babies entered iri the St. John Ambulance Association's Baby Contest, are now available to entrants at the Regent Theatre. Gar forth was fined £50 at the Police Court, Te Puke. Messrs G. Sweetman and H. A. Washer, J.P's, were on the Bench. Ohope Sports Club. At a meeting of the Ohope Indoor Sports Club it was decided to commence the Singles Elimination matches next Tuesday to decide the Table Tennis ladder positions, and Deck Tennis, Darts and Quoits will also be available for members. With a steadily increasing membership, there is no doubt that the members will thoroughly appreciate these additional games. Woa! Woa! A car was proceeding at a normal pace along the Strand on Wednesday and a half-ton truck, with half a ton of Maoris in the back was moving in reverse from the kerb edge. One of the passengers in the truck, a buxom woman, took no chances when she saw the car approaching. "Woa! A request was received from the Society for the care of crippled children for a donation and the Borough Council, at the meeting on Monday night, voted £2 2s. The Town Clerk, Mr D. V. Saunders, said that he and Messrs C. G. Lucas and F. Prideaux had formed a Whakatane Committee to deal with the Society's affairs in this area. He detailed the facts concerning one case sent -on to Auckland by the Committee. The little girl concerned had been completely cured after suffering with a crippled leg for some years, Several councillors ' pressed the. opinion that it was v a cause worthy of support. ; ;
