Inclusion of the Pa and the Heads in the Borough area, following the sitting of the recent Commission, will not come as a surprise to those who have followed the matter up and viewed it from a purely local aspect. The differences of Opinion, raised during the course of the hearing, should now be dropped in a serious attempt to effect an understanding between all parties which will lead to improvements and satisfaction among the new borough residents. As mentioned. by Cr. Sullivan at the recent meeting, the power reticulation of the new area will proceed almost at once, while the other amenities will follow as opportunities present themselves. There is much to be done and there is no reason why in future greater efforts should not be bent towards improving the: appearance of Whakatane s front door and, harbour environs.
