THE WINTER SHOW
War or no war, we intend carrying on! Such is the. slogan of the Winter Show Committee, members of which organisation have pledged themselves this year to see the exhibition through, upon a scale, and to a standard which has never been exceeded in the past. For four days, therefore (June 12th, 13th, 14th & 15th,) Whakatane's annual Winter exhibition will be held as usual and the promotors are seeking the active interest and support of residents in town and country in order to make the event a thing to be proud of, and a first class advertisement for the district. Wai depression, follows the fluctuating fortunes of the fighting in Europe. The object of the committee is to stimulate interest in other things 1 , by engendering a feeling of pride in the progress of the province and directing attention to the "home front" whereon important battles are won. The civilian morale is recognised as one of the greatest war-win-ning factors, and Whakatane residents would do well to regard the forthcoming show in the light of a district display promoted and dedicated to the spirit of industry and cooperation so vital to attaining an ultimate victory.
