MAGISTRATE'S COURT

MONTHLY SITTING LIGHT LIST DEALT WITH The monthly sitting of the Magistrate's Court was held yesterday. Mr E. L. Walton,, S.M.. was on the Bench. The list of cases for hearing was somewhat lighter than usual and the Court rose at 11.30 a.m. The first cases called were those in which various defendants were charged with possessing unlicensed radio sets. Albert E. Churcher, Post master at Taneat.ua gave evidence against Wi Whetu, of Ruatoki, who was fined 10s, with 30s costs. In the remaining cases under this head-; ing„ evidence was given by George Edward Butt, senior telegraphist in the P. and T. Department, Whakatane. H. A. Orr was fined 10s, with 30s costs; Rua Hiki, £1 and 355; Nina Ripaki, 10s and 355; Iki Powhare, 10s and 355; Tohaia Tupe,, 10s and; 355. Constable Rice prosecuted Kori and he was fined 10s with 15s x>sts.
