SOUND ADVICE
WHAT IS A SCHOOL? CARRYING ON TRADITIONS Good advice to the pupils of the Te Teko Native School on the occasion of the official opening last Saturday was imparted by Mr L. H. Brown, who pointed out that they were in reality, the school—not the building. "It is you boys and girls who carry on the traditions of the old school, Avho represent the real institution. You will carry those traditions to all parts of New Zealand, I expect very likely to different parts of the world. But people will judge your school by your actions, and so you must always try to live up to what you have been taught here, by your teachers." Mr Brown mentioned that many of the Maori leaders came from the East Coast, and urged the present pupils to do their utmost to emulate them in the future.
