AN APPRECIATION
LETTER FROM SIR ERNEST DAVIS DISTRICT'S GREAT FUTURE ! The Whakatane County Council received a letter from Sir Ernest Davis. Mayor of Auckland and Cliair man of the- Provincial Patriotic Council, thanking the County Chairman and His Worship the Mayor of Whakatane for the kindly reception accorded the delegation which visited the district on April 12. The letter further stated that the members of the delegation Were greatly impressed with the measure of co-operation accordcd them and also by the belief that Whakatane is to play a substantial part, in the patriotic scheme. Members reported that the result of the visit was most heartening and the hospitality extended was greatlj' appreciated, as was the -courtesy shown by Mr A. J. Canning, who conducted the visitoi-s over the Whakatane Paper Mills. Sir Ernest added an expression of his own appreciation accompanied by his best wishes for the success of the district, which, he confidently believes, faces a great future.
