The two representatives of the fair sex heard discussing turf topics in the Strand on Friday night apparently had not met for some time as the matter of the moment concerned the Ellerslie Meeting at Easter. Said one: "And I picked Knight of Australia and Black Thread, but I didn't take the double. Fancy, though, it was at 125. I thought at the time, 'Wouldn't it have been nice to have had a half-a-crown's worth'!" Would it not have been nicer still to have had £1 ■worth?
