BOROUGH BOUNDARY QUESTION
EVIDENCE submitted to the commission sitting last Wednesday for the purpose of going into the question of including the areas known as the Pa and the Heads, in the Borough of Whakatane, shows plainly enough that there are sound arguments on both sidest. Those who have followed the report in the BEACON will understand both the desire of the Council to include the settlement in the interests of progress and also the counter arguments put forward by the Maoris and other residents at the Heads. The matter however ha,s been submitted to and left in the hands of a capable group of men who, thoroughly disinterested, can be expected to view the whole subject from a fair and reasonable angle and arrive at a just conclusion. The verdict will, we are certain, be taken in the proper manner by all concerned and accepted in good faith.
