MAGISTRATE'S COURT

NOXIOUS WEED FINES IMPOSED 4K' In conjunction with the serious attitude taken by the Tauranga County Council with regard to the clearing of noxious weeds from farm lands, four Te Puke district farmers made their appearance in the Te Puke Magistrate's Court before Mr E. L. Wallon„ S.M. The prosecutions were brought by Mr T. B. Burley, County Inspector, through Mr A? Jamieson. The first ofTender was a Maori, Tau Tapsell, of Maketu, who was lined £2 and costs for failing to clear ragwort from his property at Maketu after customary notification had been given by the inspector. Other prosecutions on similar charges were brought against, and fines imposed, on R. Kay, of Papamoa, who was fined £2 and costs, T. Lennard, of Papamoa, £1 and costs, and A. Strachan of Te Matai who was also fined £1 and costs.
