FORTHCOMING SHOW
COMPLETING THE DETAILS
GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETS
The general committee of the Whakatane and Rangitaiki A. and P. Association met last week when a number of details were finalised.
There was a definite note of enthusiasm which augers well for the fixture and a will on the part of all members to make t lie Centennial Shmv something of which the district may well lie proud.
The Association decided to link np with the New Zealand Clydesdale Society, which will enable the inclusion of several handsome awards in the draught section.
Mr J. S. Rae's oiler of a donation of a sheep for the weight guessing competition was gratefully accepted.
The usual working bee for putting the grounds in order was arranged for Thursday 13th inst at 10 a.m. It is the urgent hope of the committee, that all who can possibly make the day should arrive there punctually and thus assist in an early conclusion to the effort.
An innovation this year will be the reserving of car parking space for the benefit of members who arc likely to be late arrivals. By the payihent of 2s 6d a space will lie reserved in a special area which will ensure a good view of the ring, Members Avill thus be able to protect themselves against being crowded out. Agricultural Exhibit. Another feature will be the special exhibit by the Department of Agriculture, which will be displayed in a prominent position. This will give a demonstration of 'grassland management,' embodying the correct strains of grasses and clovers and top-dressing, hydatid control, animal diseases, dairv shed building and orchard management.
The Department's officials will be on hand to give advice and the ■whole display is calculated to be one of the iinest the Show has yet seen. Thirty-Second Show. The Centennial event will be the thirty-second show in the Association's history, and although there will be an unusual number of difficulties, owing to restrictions, shortage of farm-workers and other handicaps, the executive is determined fco make it the greatest exhibition yet seen on the Rangitaiki Plains.
