ORDER BY CONSENT
MAORI PROHIBITED ADMITS HEAVY DRINKING A plaint received from Moses Tonra acting on behalf of the Maori Council, praying that a prohibition order be made against Panapa Ratahi. aged 24, was heard on Wednesday by Mr E. L. Walton, S.M. In a statement Moses Toma alleged that Ratahi, who was employed by the Public Works Department at Awakeri, caused the Maori Council some worry by his indulgence in liquor, and should be prohibited. Questioned by the Magistrate, R.atahi admitted that he drank too much and was willing that an order should be made against him. Order Cancelled. Dick Rangihika requested that the prohibition order imposed in 1932 be cancelled, and on the Police stating that they had no objection, the Magistrate granted the application.
