CHILD RESCUED FROM DROWNING WHAKATANE GIRL'S PROMPT ACT The prompt uction 01 Miss hlsie Brown, of Whakatane, .werced a fatality.at Thornton on s'undiy, when a four year old girl slipped into deep water in the Rarigitaiki River. The child had boon psd'Uing at the edge of the river and apparently walked into a irile in the sand. She was seen to be Slotting on her face some yards from the river bank. Miss Brown plunged into the water and brought the child to safety. Artificial respiration war. sue •ecssful and tiie little girl is now ;none the worse for her experience..
