Mr A. Coleman, S.M., presided at the monthly sitting of the Opotiki Magistrate's Court, when only a light calendar was dealt with. Sergeant J. Isbister conducted proceedings on behalf of the police. James KiefT was proceeded against by the police for failure to comply with the right-hand rule. Mr Hei entered a plea of guilty. Sergeant Isbister stated that on 10th November defendants lorry collided with a motor car at a borough
street intersection and the motor car was badly damaged. Defendant had admitted that he failed to give way. Sonny N"gata was charged by the police with driving a motor car in Church Street, not being the possessor of a driver's license. Constable W. Cooper, in evidence, stated that defendant was standing in front of a car with a crowd around him. To all appearances ho
seemed to be intoxicated in charge of a car. Ngata got into the car and when driving off was stopped by witness, who found defendant Was quite sober. He stated that he had only been joking When asked to produce his lieer.s", it was found had none. Ngata was convicted and fined £2 with costs 15?
