OBITUARY

MR ALLAN CORBETT v

The death has occurred of Mr Allan Corbett, of Edgecumbe, a known and popular district resident. Born in the Gisborne district fortysix years ago, the late Mr Corbett, received his education there came over to the Rangitaiki Plains ten years ago. As a sharemilker for Mr A. Smith, at Awakeri, he was quick to identify himself with any forward movement which made for the progress of the community. He was a vice-president of the old Awakeri Athletic Club, and was one 6? the keenest workers of that body in promoting the various sports meetings. He was also a strong supporter of Rugby Football and for many years was one of the stalwarts of the game. He was a member of the A. and P. Society and had a wide circle of friends in town and country. Three years ago he moved to Edgecumbe where he took over th& management of part of Mr Richie's Awaroa Station. Always an energetic man he had known good health all his life until eighteen months ago when he was compelled to relax. His passing will be felt by all , who knew and respected him as a neighbour and friend. He leaves a widow, and family of five, three sons and two daughters who reside at Edgecumbe.
