MAORI BATTALION
OFFICERS AND N.C.O.S Fifty-six selected recruits for the Maori Battalion were listed to appear at Rotorua over the week-end. It is understood that out of the nam ber who reported for the interview and medical examination;>only two were rejected as unfit. These men are the prospective officers and N.C.O.'s of the Battalion. Three of those present for the interview were from Whakatane, and it is reported that Morgan H. Wells, Horton O. Stewart, and Edward How ell are to enter camp in two week's time for preliminary instruction.. They will have twenty-five days in camp, two weeks leave at mas and then finish their three month period of training.
