GARDEN PARTY
MAORI RED CROSS FIRST OF ITS KIND The well known hospitality of Mrs McCracken was appreciated to the utmost last Saturday afternoon when, as President oi the Matata Maori Red Cross Society she entertained members and friends at a garden, party given in the charming grounds of her residence at Edgecumbe. An unusually enjoyable afternoon was spent, the members contributing hakas, action songs and poi dances. Particularly pleasing were the solo items, the singing being of unusually high standard and thoroughly enjoyed by all present. The soloists were, Mrs Frazer, Miss Ihaia, Miss Mahuta, Miss^Miriara£a. Mrs Frazer in thanking their ,£k>s- > tess on behalf of the Matata Maori Red Gross Society spoke very warmly of their appreciation of Mrs McCracken's efforts. The Matata Red Cross Society, which she said, had been inaugurated by Mrs McCraeken, had the honour of claiming to be the first Maori Red Gross Society * in New Zealand. '
The members were deeply grateful and much indebted to their presi- ; % dent whose live interest and untiring efforts had greatly contributed to the success of the Society.
Afternoon tea brought a very, happy "huihuinga" to a close.
