DEATH OF PROMINENT MAORI GRIEF AT LOSS \ One of the largest tangis in cent years was held at Pahou week, when the death 'occurred of Parekaahu Nuku a prominent member of the tribe of Ngati-Pukeko. * He was the only surviving son of Hoani Nuku one of the elders of the tribe and his death is w T idely regretted by both Maoris and Pakehas. y Three hundred people attended the tangi, being representative of the Bay of Plenty tribes.

Deceased is survived by his widow, nine sons, six daughters and twentyeight grandchildren.
