. %■ CONNECTION WITH WHAKATANE Whakatanc people \will join in. the regret expiesWed- over the death on active service of Pilot-Officer C. L. G. Harker, of Wairoa, who is son of Mr H. Harker, Mayor of Wairoa. Pilot-Officer Harker was previously reported as missing, but his death is now recorded in the sixlti Royal Air Force casualty list.
Mr Harker's connection with Wha katane comes from the fact that he stood fpr the Bay of Plenty s®6t Jt', as the Democrat candidate in 193S in a triangular contest with Mr .'A. G. Hultquist M.P., and Mr J. jT« Merry. This was the occasion oft which Mr Hultquist first won the seat.
