BAY CENTRE MEETS ELECTION OF OFFICERS "The holding of the junior and intermediate championships in Rotorua was responsible for a particularly busy season,reported the president of the Bay of" Plenty Swimming Centre, Mi' H. Tai Mitchell, at the . annual meeting held in the Ritz Board room last Thursday evening. There were now five clubs affiliated to the centre, Tauranga having become an active body, reported the president.
"Had the Bay of Plenty swimmers ■ competed for every there is • every possibility that the centre would have gained mote championrship points than but the points Avere even, being seven each" I'he stated in reference to the championships held in Rotorua during the season, "This fact speaks for itself,' and it is a great credit to members that the district should compete so successfully Avith Otago, AA 7 ho •are a much longer established centre'' he added.
TKe approximate profit from the championships was £75 and over £28 had been paid to the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association. Mr Mitchell mentioned that the visiting swimmers and friends had been taken to Taupaeharuru where the prizes were presented; special thanks were due to the Maoris for their hospitality. ,Following are the officers elected: Patron, Mr A.
