THE PLUNKET SOCIETY WHAKATANE BRANCH Mrs C. G. Caisley presided at the monthly meeting of th<" Whakatane Plunget Society which was attended by Mesdames Dawson, Eggers, Dixon, Miller, and Kendall. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Luxton, Craig and Baswel] s A letter from the Rangitaiki SubBrancH stated that owing to the difficulty in obtaining the services of car drivers, it had been regretfully decided not to take advantage of the extra days which had been offered by the society. A donation of £2 2s from the BEACON printing and publishing coy was received with thanks. Mrs W. Sullivan consented to act as secretary, and was accorded the thanks of the committee. The treassecretary and the president were empowered to sign all cheques. Details in connection with a proposed garden party in order to raise funds were discussed at length. It was finally decided to hold such an event, at the heme of Mrs F. Prideaux Douglas Tuesday, October 10th. In the event of wet weather the fixture will be held in the Parish Hall. A bring and buy stall has been suggested and other popular novelties. Half the proceeds will be devoted to the T r uby King Memorial Fund. The suggested formation of a separate soc ; ety at Rotorua was also discussed, members pointing out that if | this eventuated the district nurse j would have Wo extra days to devote to tlr* town and district.
