CONTROL OF BUILDING
WIDE POWERS TAKEN RESTRICTIONS ON MATERIALS Wicfe powers are taken in the Building Emergency Regulations, under which Mr A. Tyndall is appointed Building Controller. His duties are to organise end promote building works according to their importance in, the public interest, and for that purpose determine their precedence and urgency and ensure the supply of materials and labour for their prosecution. He may a,t any time direct that work may be stopped, whether or not, the construction was commenced fore or after the regulations were made, or whether or not they Avero the subject of a permit granted under the: regulations. Unless a permit has been issued persons are not to proceed with constructional work, or allow 'any other person to do so. For the purpose of determining the rights and liabilities of a person bound by contract relating to building work, any restriction imposeid shall be deetmed equivalent to the occurrence of a strike, lockout, or any other interruption of that kind. The controller may regulate and control the use and sale of materials, cither generally or in respect of any specified area. industry, material or persons. Owners of building materials must furnish information arid particulars of them as the controller thinks fit, and may be directed not to use or dispose of them except with the consent of the controller. He may require owners or persons in charge of work to use substitutes if he thinks fit.
