WIIAKATANE CLUB RESULTS CHAMPIONSHIP TO R<« HGRROCKS All of the Whakatane Golf Club's main competitions have been advanced further; stages, in some cases to completion. The senior championship was won by R. Horrocks by the very close margin of one up from A. Cradwiek. The game produced some excellent golf by both palj'crs. In the semi finals, Cradwiek beat Roberts and Horrocks beat Rangi. The junior championship also finished on the last green.. Newman beating Barry two up. Tn, the semifinals Newman beat Morpeth and Barry beat Moore. Both lmals were played over 3(5 holes. In the Reynolds Cup final, Newman beat Armstrong. The Fortune Cup was won by Ilerrold who beat Rangi in the final. In the intermediate championship semi-finals, A. Clark beat Henderson and Montgomery beat Smith. Clark and Montgomery meet in the final. The flag match on September 2nd was won by L. Norriss who carried j the flag to the 18th hole. The bogey match on September 9th was won by P. one up, after a count back with F. J. Rey-j nokls. J The club's annual tournament wilJ be held next week-end, commencing with 18 holes qualifying round for 1 the three championships on Saturday This lias been modified from 36 holes' to 18 holes to give those who qar* only play on Saturday afternoon an opportunity- of participating. Handicap medal and handicap bogey matches will be played on Saturday morning and afternoon respectively. Numerous entries have already been received and everything promises for a successful tournament. Lunch and afternoon tea will be procurable on each of the three days.
