Did you know that it Avas primitive man's yearning for salt, and his difficulty in obtaining it, that has bequeathed to us such phrases as "worth his salt" and such words a.; "salarV" from the Latin, word "sal" for salt? Salt was once a currency in ancient Rome, as it still is in some parts of the wo rid notably Africa.
