* ' " 'INSTITUTE 1 MEETING 1. : : : .. 9 .v ' / (Bcacpjiy Correspondent) ' The monthly meeting of the Wai-mana-Nukuhou WometV's Institute was held in the Waimana Hall last Wednesday afternoon,. There was on excellent attendance of members; who were presided over by Mrs Marra The meeting opened with the National Anthem which was followed •J by the singing of New Zealand's National Anthem. The afternoon being Grandmas' special day, they provided the entertainment which Avas much enjoyed by all. The minutes Avere read and correspondence dealt with. A letter asking for help for the Lepers, Avas discussed and it Avas decided that each member Avould contribute Is towards the fund. The delegates to attend the Federation meeting to be held at Waiotahi on the cth October, AA r ere elected i Mrs Jcrram and Mrs Davies. It was decided to purchase a roll book, and it AA-as left to Mrs ,P. Savage to get the past and present members autographs, or as many a s possible. The husbands' and friends ing Avas to be held on the 7th September. The Grandmas then took charge of the entertainment. Mrs W. Wardlaw gave a tnn'cl talk cn Scotland. A Mime Avas avcll presented by Mrs F. Savage and Mrs John Addison. The twelve grand mas present gave choruses dressed in long frocks and shawls and bonnets, this being followed by a modern item the "Lambeth Walk,'' also by the grandmas. Both items were greatty applauded. A short play entitled "An Institute Meeting'' AA r as aacll presented by Mrs W. Wardlaw, Mrs Hewitt and Mrs McConnel!, Snr. , v The competitions for the day were as follows: —Boavl of Spring Flowers: Mrs F. Bell 1; Mrs Stevenson 2; Mrs I. SaA'age 3. Handkerchief: Mrs F. Bell 1; Mrs Black 2: Mrs Savage 3. Best Bloom: Mrs SteA*enson 1 (Hyacinth); Mrs Grover 2 (Daffodil); Mrs Jerram 3 (Camelia). The hostesses, Mrs H. WardlaAV,' Mrs R. Wardlaw, Mrs and Miss Wool field. Miss E. Wardlaw, sensed a delicious afternoon tea. There Avere six new members enrolled, bringing the membership up to a total of 04. A hearty A-ote of thanks Avas carried by acclamation to the Grandmas for the splendid entertainment provided for the afternoon and to the hostesses. The meeting closed with the singing of the National Anthem. Persona!. Mr and Mrs Edwards and infant daughter, of Napier, are staying at Waimana with Mrs Edwards' parents, Mr and Mrs R. Black. Mr and Mrs Edwards traA'elled from Napier to Opotiki by plane.
