PROPERTY RE-VALUED
SECTIONS NEAR WHARF A valuation of £125, the purchase price recently paid,, was placed on two sections opposite the Wharf, re~ cently purchased by Mr F. W. Lywhen the rating assessment court heard argument at its sitting at Whakatane yesterday. The court consisted of Mr H. McLaclilan, president, Mr G. H. Finely Government Assessor, anil Mi A. King> Borough assessor. Mr L. Buddie appeared fo r the Borough of Whakatane and Mr C. A. Suckling for Mr Lysaght. Mr Buddie said that the original valuation of the property was £250. and Mr Lysaght's valuation was £90. The original valuation, was in sympathy with the value of surrounding properties and the borough said that the new proposal was not fair and equitable as nearby properties ranged in value from 25s to £4 a and the sections in question are only valued at 15s or lfis a foot. The valuation of nearby properties had been sustained by the court. Mr Suckling said that the property was too far from town for com mcrcial purposes and r.ot far enough n.wav for residential use, : The -Winter.
